Orienteering Meet/EcoHike October 14, 2007

 

The 5th Annual Orienteering Meeting and EcoHike was held at Rock Bridge Memorial State Park on October 14 from 9 AM – 2 PM. Thank you to the cosponsors for this event: the Friends of Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, The Department of Natural Resources and Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, Division of State Parks, Missouri Show-Me Games, and W.G. Grinders. Thanks also to the Columbia Track Club, especially Cammie Ronchetto for setting the competitive courses for the meet.

 

 

Participants explored the varied terrain of Rock Bridge State Park with other orienteering enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. Everyone from young children to experienced navigators found a course to match their abilities. Orienteering is a sport where participants use a map and compass to find designated points in a defined area.  This meet had four levels of orienteering courses.  Results for the Red, Orange, and Yellow courses can be seen below:
